TEST PREP VIRGINIA SOL MATH
These 6 little FLIP BOOKS are a great way to engage students in reviewing vocabulary and concepts. They are also useful for providing practice for students in a format that helps them to slow down and work through the strategies and ideas. I use these in interactive notebooks and also for those times when I want students to make something they can take home to share.
Included are six different place value flip books. One version is a color version with the digits, 1 through 6, in order along with the names for each place. Four other versions are black and white with the digits out of order to create a six-digit whole number and the place included. A sixth version is included with digits only and students write in the place value. Each flip book is printed on one piece of paper. These are great with partners, small groups, or even whole class activities where each partner can have a different version to ‘quiz and check’ their partner or each partner may use the same version.
For each of the Flip Books students will cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines and staple or glue the pages together with the smallest piece on top and progressively bigger pieces beneath with the longest piece on the bottom. When students ‘flip’ the page the name of the place is shown. For the hundred thousands place, students will cut apart the name rectangle and glue or tape it to the back of the flip page…for all the other pages, the name is printed on the page.
