How to use this following directions packet
Print, cut out, and laminate cards. I recommend this so you will able to use these cards over and over again. Print out and laminate, or use a sheet protector, with the included Thanksgiving Activities activity sheets. Student listens to oral directions (or reads written directions) and must interpret, recall, and then execute command that contains concept.
These Thanksgiving following directions cards provide engaging, FUN practice for students in speech and language therapy (or preschool/ Kindergarten students) who need to work on following directions with embedded concepts. Need some Thanksgiving activities? You can use these cards throughout the entire month of November! Students will love these thematic cards. You will love the ease this packet provides with helping you address your student's individual listening skills needs. Perhaps one student needs to work on following directions containing location concepts, while another student has difficulty following directions that contain temporal concepts. Why your students will benefit from this resource
Throughout the school day, a student needs to be able to follow directions. Many times, teachers given spoken directions which contain a variety of embedded concepts. For example: "Before you turn in your homework, put your backpack away." A student with a language disorder may become "lost" in the shuffle. These students will often only hear one part of the direction, and may look around in confusion as they watch what other students are doing. I am constantly writing IEP goals for my speech and language therapy students that involve following directions with embedded concepts. These cards will allow you to really figure out EXACTLY which embedded concepts are difficult for your student. These cards contain 1 step and 2 step directions, so you will be able to work your way up to harder listening skill tasks.
Students who may benefit include
students receiving speech and language therapy
students receiving special education
preschool or kindergarten students
