The attached files are intended for student reference and use. Page one briefly explains various formative assessment and discussion protocols to be used in different content areas. The reference sheet is meant to assist students in remembering the steps of each protocol. The second page is intended to be kept on hand by the students as a means of formative assessment. At any point, depending how the lesson is going/headed, choose an appropriate means of assessment. You can even give the student a choice in how to reflect upon the lesson or text.
