I have used graphics from Glitter Meets Glue, but the PREVIEW file was too large to include as PDF, so I have had to resort to a JPG version which will still give you a good idea of the contents of this package.
I use the CARDS in lots of different ways in my INTERVENTION PROGRAMS. They are great for CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT as students are looking at the picture and fraction as well as hearing the name and sorting the cards simultaneously. This multi-sensory aspect helps cognitive processing. It's easy to introduce the concept of equivalence at this point.
You can start with matching any two sets of cards according to your student's current ability, then add other sets over time. You can use them for ordering and (once the concepts are familiar) playing games helps consolidation. Use two sets to play MEMORY and SNAP.
I use any three sets (such as PICTURES/HUNDREDTHS FRACTIONS/PERCENTAGE) to play FRACTION FAMILIES. This is based on the old card game of COON CAN. I don't add the WILD CARDS until students know the game rules and are beginning to understand the concepts. Adding the WILD CARDS extends the life of the game as it is the fun element that keeps them wanting to play in the consolidation phase. When playing a WILD CARD the player has to nominate the card's value and this really gets them thinking about equivalent decimals, fractions and percentage.
You can add the cards to a MATHS CENTRE once students know how to play.
