Thank you for your interest in this product!
Literacy in Mathematics is an essential skill. Math Literacy is not only the ability to use numbers to help solve real-world problems, but it is also the ability to understand the “language” of Math.
Students need to not only perform computations, they also need to understand WHY they are performing the steps and be able to communicate this understanding with others.
This resource was created to broaden the understanding of Math language. It requires students to understand the vocabulary terms associated with a unit of study, as well as to identify what it would look like (an example). This product would be ideal as a Math center when a new unit is introduced, and it compliments the use of word walls.
This activity includes 30 “trios” cards, which consist of a vocabulary card, definition card, and example card. The students must make 10 trios sets, record their choices on a recording sheet, and complete the extension activity.
This download includes:
- 10 vocabulary cards related to Fractions
- 10 corresponding definition cards
- 10 visual representation cards (examples)
- Student recording sheet with extension activity
- Answer Key
