I have used this resource over many years to help me get to know my new class at the start of each school year, plus it gives the students a chance to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth. It is an editable Word document, so please feel free to change the text in the boxes to suit your own individual needs (I.e. you may wish to change Japanese to Indonesian or French etc and alter regional spellings such as favourite/favorite.).
I print this off as a double sided sheet. On the front, students give themselves a score out of 10 for the section entitled ‘This is how I feel about…….‘ with 10 being that they like/enjoy it a lot, 0 being not so much.
Students then tick or cross the boxes in the bottom section depending on whether they have these items / resources at home. This gives you an indication of those students who will be able to do internet research at home for projects and those who are using social media (thus also providing you a great opening for discussions about cyber safety).
On the reverse side, students have the opportunity to let you know about their family and complete the unfinished questions at the bottom.
I like to keep these for the end of the year and put them into a personal ‘memories’ folder.
NOTE – While I am leaving this file as editable, please do not copy it and distribute as your own.
