Where and How:
Use in individual or small group speech sessions. Can be used across 1-2 thirty-minute sessions, not including the book reading time.
Discussion: Read and discuss the ideas and concepts in The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Picture Book Edition using illustrations to engage students. With a group of 3-4 students, I usually split the book into 3-4 sections and target 1 section per thirty-minute session.
Vocabulary:. Use illustrations, concepts, and details from the story to facilitate understanding of vocabulary. Have students say the definitions of the targeted vocabulary in their own words.
Worksheets: After reading, ask students to find each word in the story and re-read the sentence or paragraph in the context of the story.
