Description

Your students will love these literacy activities for learning about the Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year in other parts of the world. Both activities were designed for cooperative learning teams, but they work equally well with partners or in a small guided reading group. The first lesson is a sorting activity in which cards with facts about the Lunar and American New Years are placed on a Venn diagram. The second activity uses discussion cards to talk about the book Sam and the Lucky Money.
