Purpose of this Resource:
To help children learn the days of the week by daily readings. Students will learn how to read and chant spell the days of the week with a fun Christmas twist.
How to use this Resource:
Laminate, cut and display your Christmas themed
days of the week cards on near or in your calendar area in your room. Use the ‘Today is’ card to begin the lesson.
Younger children will enjoy putting the days of the week in chronological order. Sometimes, I like to put the cards out of order and ask my students, what’s wrong?
Older children will enjoy using alliteration with the days such as motivated Monday, Terrific Tuesday and so on.
Draw word boxes on the board and see if children can guess the day based on the tall, long and middles-sized letters.
Show children how to abbreviate the days of the week for example Thursday; Thurs.
Use these cards with your classroom schedule cards to highlight each day.
Each day of the week is presented in large text with a Pre-K - 2 appropriate clip art.
Most of the resource is presented in Zaner-Bloser font.
Heading fonts by Kevin and Amanda.
Clip art by Scrappin Doodles and front page background by Maree True Love.
