If you've got students that are having a difficult time following the behavioral expectations you've established in your classroom you may benefit from trying this classroom behavior contract especially if you are a new teacher still working on classroom management.
This contract allows students to reflect with you as the teacher what your job is as the teacher and what their job is as the student. Students take the contract home, are given a chance to explain why they have been given the contract to their parents, and return it to the teacher the next day with their signature and their parents' signature as well.
The same thing applies if you have a field trip coming up and have students whose behavior is at a point of being questionable making you wonder if they will have a successful experience on the field trip or not. We have used these in our school and have given this to every student so certain students aren't singled out. Students sign it as well as their parents and understand that by breaking the rules of the contract they will not be able to attend the field trip due to ensuring the safety of the other students on the trip, themselves, and the property at the location of the field trip.
