FREE DISCUSSION ACTIVITY: SILENT DISCUSSIONS: One of my favorite ways to facilitate speaking in class is by using the silent discussion method. What I love about it is that it allows even your most reluctant students to share their ideas and gain confidence to share them in a small group or with a whole class.
The method has students respond to a variety of discussion questions in writing before sharing with the rest of the class. Students will circulate the room silently at their own pace and move to questions of their choice, responding to prompts and other students' opinions. To learn how to facilitate this in more detail, download this resource to read the teacher instructions!
You could use any discussion questions related to what you are teaching, but my favorite ones to use are my Ethical Dilemma prompts. To use these, check them out by clicking here: ETHICAL DILEMMA DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
