Teaching genetics? This free Google Classroom-ready 4-page resource walks students through the process of setting up a dihybrid cross.

It also includes 2 genetics practice problems and a partial key for students to check their phenotypic ratios.

If you teach monohybrid Punnett squares, this handout is perfect for those students who "get it" quickly and are ready for a challenge. It can also be used to help scaffold dihybrid Punnett squares for those who are struggling and need additional practice.

✏️ I like to break up my high school genetics content into student packets which get increasingly more difficult. This helps me to differentiate instruction by letting students move ahead when they've mastered a particular concept. I can also quickly identify who is struggling.

Apply concepts of statistics and probability to explain the variation and distribution of expressed traits in a population. Emphasis is on the use of mathematics to describe the probability of traits as it relates to genetic and environmental factors in the expression of traits. Assessment does not include Hardy-Weinberg calculations.
Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Emphasis is on using models such as Punnett squares, diagrams, and simulations to describe the cause and effect relationship of gene transmission from parent(s) to offspring and resulting genetic variation.
