This is a fun way to reinforce your lessons on genres, either in the school library or in your elementary classroom!
This product includes cards with the names of five genres (Biography, Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, Mystery, and Fantasy) and cards with characteristics of each of these genres. These cards can be cut out and placed in plastic Easter eggs for groups of students to find around your library or classroom. When all the eggs have been discovered, each group empties their eggs and matches up the genre cards with the correct characteristics cards. Students can then glue the cards into a chart to display the various genres and their characteristics.
In order to use this resource as I designed it, you will need to purchase 10 plastic eggs for each group of children (and ideally, you will assign each group to find different colored eggs).
I did this activity with third grade students right before Easter and they had a lot of fun!
