Here is a sampling of my 20 word package, found at in my store:
My students LOVE doing these sorts! They are great for spicing up your literacy activities during the festive month of October!
These are individual word sort sheets using scrambled Halloween and October words. All the seasonal words are seven letters long. Each sort contains an answer key which includes the answer to the mystery word as well as the words that can be made using 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 letters.
Each sort for “Making Seasonal Words”:
INCLUDES: common nouns (singular and plural), words recognized in the dictionary, challenging vocabulary words, onomatopoeia recognized in a dictionary (moo, ah, eh), some informal sayings found in the dictionary (hi, yo, gosh), adverbs (ending in -ly)
EXCLUDES: contractions, abbreviations, proper nouns, titles which use periods (mr., mrs., ms.), inappropriate words for school children, archaic expressions, musical scale notes (do, re, fa, mi, etc.), mantra sounds (om), prefixes, suffixes, shortened versions of words (doc, limo, etc.), slang not found in the dictionary

For teachers who are looking to do less copying or just want students to unscramble the mystery word, I’ve also included compacted sheets with four of the 7-letter scrambled words on each sheet. There is a large answer sheet for those mystery words alone.
