FREE Heartfelt Causes & Effects

Heartfelt Causes and Effects is a two-part lesson developed by Laura Candler based on the favorite Valentine's day story, Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch. In the first part of the lesson, students listen to the story and the identify cause and effect relationships they discover. Students also learn to write sentences to express cause and effect relationships. Finally, they explore how their own actions can affect others by observing the results of their words and deeds and using the information to complete a graphic organizer. This lesson-plan includes two variations of the Cause & Effect Rockets graphic organizer - one is for Valentine's Day and the other can be used at any time of the year. This graphic organizer is a part of Laura's book, Graphic Organizers for Reading: Teaching Tools Aligned with the Common Core.
