DIRECTIONS: The student will write an “I Am” poem from the perspective of a character. This poem reflects how a character is thinking and feeling. The lines in the poem can be based on actual events from the text and/or inferences based on what the student has learned about the character in the text. The student can use figurative language to express a character’s experience.
Example “I Am” poem is written from the perspective of Auggie, a character in the book Wonder.
