This set of 75 note taking practice activities were developed to give extra practice to struggling writers as well as provide scaffolding for organizing new information. Students will use relevant YouTube videos to practice their note taking skills.
This project can be done as a collaboration effort with the class or as an individual project. It's so straightforward, you can even leave it with a substitute!
Students will watch a coordinating video of your choice and take notes in the brochure. Then, the class will discuss what key words are easily misspelled and these will be written on the board. Students will also write them in their brochure. Students will write a short essay/paragraph giving details about the topic. First, a rough draft will be written. The final draft will be written on the back of the brochure.
This project will take approximately an hour to complete. It's perfect if you need a bit of filler or a creative project to keep your students energized and motivated!
You'll receive 74 topics PLUS a blank brochure that you can use for any topic not covered. Please note that it is not editable, but is useful if you'd like all of your brochure projects to match. Also included are interactive notebook pockets if these will be stored in notebooks. I personally like storing my brochure projects in 6 x 9 kraft brown clasp envelopes.
The following topics are included: watermelon, ice cream, grilling safety, surfing, mermaids, sailing, popsicles, starfish, crabs, stingrays, octopus, jellyfish, dolphins, whales, flamingos, cactus, coconuts, pineapples, lighthouses, cruise ships, bananas, ocean waves, palm trees, coral reefs, citrus fruit, sharks, shells, turtles, compasses, binoculars, the moon, raccoons, moose, s'mores, rabbits, log cabins, foxes, beavers, hiking, bears, fire, canoeing, camping, fishing, oak trees, computers, cameras, fireworks, balloons, thunder and lightning, tornadoes, doughnuts, football, apples, electricity, pizza, carrots, sheet, gardening, snails, song birds, tulips, bee, the sun, ladybugs, reindeer, penguins, holly, figure skating, the arctic, owls, panda bears, snow, and the postal service.
