CSR is a innovative method of teaching reading which combines sound, proven teaching methods with cooperative learning. I developed these posters to use in my classroom.
One of the strategies I used most often was the during reading, Fix-Up Strategies. I taught my students how to look for the meaning of unfamiliar words using these strategies and how to identify the strategy they use.
I would use the pre-story found in the Treasures Reading adoption to teach this skill, but it can be used with any text. This Interactive Journal product walks students through the process. I included it in my Interactive Journal early in the year and then I introduced each week's vocabulary with a CSR Clunk/Fix-Up Strategy lesson. It was very effective.
