Prezi is similar to a power point presentation, but better in so many ways. This prezi introduces students to human rights, genocides, and tolerance. Key vocabulary is introduced and there are short video clips embedded into the prezi that give a brief description of various genocides and more detail about the Holocaust. I used this presentation to kick off my tolerance unit, front loading information I believe is key and to get them interested in content. Through out the unit we read articles, learn about propaganda, read excerpts from "Diary of a Young Girl", write responses to text, complete a project, and we visit the Museum of Tolerance. This unit will be posted for sale soon.

*Worksheet that follows the prezi - 2 pages
*Ideas for how to implement
I have used this lesson with my 8th grade students, both mild/moderate sped. and general education students. The visuals and clips make this more accessible for a variety of learners, hitting many modalities. My students were engaged and interested in the presentation. I have 49 minute periods and used 1 period for this lesson. This lesson would also be appropriate for 5th - 9th grade students.
I hope this engages your students as much as it has did mine. -
This is a zip file, so you will need to know how to unzip. I have a free download on how to do this and tpt also provides instructions on how to unzip. If you are using a PC, getting the prezi downloaded may take several minutes, so please be patient. If you are on a mac it is almost instantaneous.
