This is a fabulous novel I read with my first year Spanish for native / heritage speakers class, but could also be read with a level 4 or 5 Spanish class. It's a true story of a Honduran boy that came to the US on top of a train in search of his mom who left him behind when he was just 5 in search of a better life.
This contains three sets of questions that cover the entire book and details how I divided up the book. (I chose to skip some boring/irrelevant parts to keep interest high).
This resource is free so as not to infringe on copyright. I hope it is helpful for you, especially as you design or think about heritage / native Spanish speaker programs.
