This guide was updated and expanded in January of 2017.
This mini-guide is for the book titled The Gold Cadillac, by Mildred D. Taylor; Ms. Taylor is the author of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, which was awarded the Newbery Medal.
The fictional story in The Gold Cadillac is based on Mildred Taylor's experiences growing up as a black person in the U.S. in the 1950s.
A mini-guide is a two-week literature guide that is divided into ten sections. (Note: This sample guide has only seven sections.) A mini-guide contains vocabulary activities, questions for discussion, reading activities, life application/Bible connections, and an answer key.
This mini-guide is interactive: The content enables parents/teachers to facilitate an oral discussion of a book, but it only provides space for one student to complete fill-in-the-blank activities. If you want to use this guide with more than one student, check out the options:
1) Reproducibles -- that contain all of the fill-in-the-blank activities -- are available as another free item on TpT. When a set of reproducibles is purchased, the parent/teacher has permission to make a copy for each of his/her students:

2) Workbook -- the free guide in this format provides space for students to write the answers. If you use the workbook, reproducibles are not necessary. The content of the guide in interactive format and the guide in workbook format is the same; the only difference is spacing.
