This is a Notebook file I created to begin talking to students about the different ways we can make sounds from musical instruments.
When you click on each image of the instruments, the appropriate noise is made (ie someone drumming, a guitar playing). Simply play each one and have students decide how that instrument is played. Then move that image into the correct column. I have intentionally only used 9 instruments with 10 spaces to get students thinking.
NOTE – For the next part of the lesson, we then made our own musical instruments from household items such as empty boxes, containers etc. and classified them into the 5 different ways to make the sound. The students then made their own straw whistle (for blowing) and got to take it home. A VERY successful lesson!
