Description

This is a sample of my UPDATED summer writing project that you can send home with students over the summer and review when school starts up again.
Students practice writing skills over the summer, and provide you with sufficient information to help them develop a back-2-school narrative in the fall.

Use the books so students can share their summer activities.

You can also use them as a basis for that “What I Did Over Summer Vacation” essay; modified to whatever level is necessary for them to be successful.
Have parents send in photos and add them to the journals on your bulletin board.

Practice language targets by having them identify actions, use phrases or sentences, answer Wh-questions, etc.

There are 3 types of different pages in this sample:
a generic What I did,
I went on a plane,
and I went to the beach.

The full resource version has a variety of different page themes; including:
a generic What I did page,
travel via different modes of transportation (plane, train, bus, car, bike, walking),
a variety of day-trip and day activity options (i.e. beach, park, playground, swimming, and more),
and generic play pages.
There is a blank lined paper page for longer entries. 21 pages in all, with 2 journal entries per page.
All pages have visual cues for the theme and the Wh- statements.
