Description

NOTE: This is a free preview of my {June close reading product}. This preview shows one topic in its entirety. In the full product, you get a total of four different topics with the same types of second read, third read, writing response, and paired text activities. If you are looking for an online version of this product, click {here}.

I have used these close reading texts with my own fifth graders to promote more meaningful interactions with text. I purposefully wrote these texts to be high-interest and short so that the students would be motivated to read the text multiple times. The follow-up activities have gotten my students to go back to the text and dig deeper.

How are my close reading texts unique?

★ Original, high-interest, and short passages written by me

★ Discreetly differentiated into five levels of difficulty to address a wide range of student abilities

★ Variety of engaging follow-up activities that require students to dig deeper into the passages

★ Paired text and activity for each topic

★ Format options for use with or without interactive notebooks

Perfect for:

★ Whole group

★ Guided reading

★ ELA centers

★ Homework
