Here is a printable card game (like UNO) you can use to teach and practice new vocabulary with the following prefixes: non-, mis-, un-, dis. Use this game for therapy, intervention or as a center activity in your classroom.
Shuffle cards. Pass out 6 cards to each player (more or less cards ok depending on how many players). Place the rest of the cards face-down in the middle. Turn one card up next to the pile.
Players take turns placing cards in the center. The goal is to get rid of all your cards. When it's your turn, you have to put a card in the middle that matches the color or number of the top card. When you place the card in the center, read the word on your card (and use in sentence or define/describe, depending on your objective). If you don't have a card that matches in number or color, you have to pick from the pile until you get a card that you can place in the middle. If you have a wild card, you can play that card at any time. When a wild card is played, the player gets to choose the color that he/she wants to use for the round (e.g. if blue is chosen, the next player must put a blue card down). If you play a "SKIP" card, the next player is skipped and loses a turn. If you play a "REVERSE" card the player order shifts in the opposite direction and continues that way until a "REVERSE" card is played again. If you play a "DRAW 2" card, the next player must automatically pull 2 cards from the pile. If you run out of cards, you can shuffle the cards in the "face-up" pile and use them to pull from (make sure to leave the top card on the table).
The first person to play all there cards wins!
