Do you let students "Read Around the Room" during daily independent reading time? This bulletin board display idea was passed on to me from a colleague and it's a lifesaver during Reading Workshop so I want to share it with you too!
Simply print, laminate, cut and display the bulletin board set. Write student names on large popsicle sticks and pull sticks each day to select a handful of students who get to "Read Around the Room." The student name sticks fit nicely in each pocket card.
In my classroom we have an extra teacher stool, teacher chair, carpet area, back table, bean bags, and a rocking chair where students can sit during Reading Workshop. EVERYBODY wants to read in these special spots and the Read Around the Room chart helps determine who gets to sit where in a fair and organized manner. Win Win!!!
This FREE set includes:
2 different designs - Bright Chevron on Chalkboard and Bright Chevron on White (to save on black ink)
12 premade cards - stool, chair, bean bags, table, carpet, floor, buddy, rocking chair, under desk, library and doorway.
Best of all - this set is editable. (You must have powerpoint to download and edit). Blank cards are included so you can insert your own Read Around the Room spots.
