Description
I ran a science research course at my high school and all of my students were required to design their own experiment and create their own poster for the local and regional science fair. I found that many students struggled with what exactly should go on their poster. Some students come with immaculately designed posters with computer generated graphics. Some come in with something they threw together the class period before (that they skipped!) To help students to understand what I expected from them, I created this sheet.
It shows them what goes where: their title, hypothesis, background information, procedure, bibliography... This instruction sheet also reminds students to use proper scientific names and metric units!
I have quite a bit of experience with science fairs and I find the most successful students have posters like the one described in my instruction sheet.
Please note: I know that this instruction sheet may not be perfect for all science fair students' (and teacher's) needs. I am sharing it for other teachers who may find it useful. If it does not meet your needs exactly, it may give you a suggested format to base your own instruction sheet on!
