Description

Simple investigation. Simple materials. I've adapted one of my favorite properties of matter investigations so that families and students can be successful completing investigations OUT of school.

Topic: Relative density to water, buoyancy

Activity: Determine whether natural objects sink or float then build a raft to help a sad stone escape the deserted island.

Overview:

Day 1: Conduct an investigation to determine whether objects sink or float.

Day 2: Build a raft from natural materials to help a stone escape from a deserted island.

Day 3: Choice Activity

Materials:

• Materials from outside

• Small tub of water

• A small stone (sad face optional)

• Timing device
