Are your students having a difficult time writing story summaries? Mine sure did... that is until I introduced Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST). This strategy guides students in picking the most important information in a story. Once my students complete a SWBST organizer, they use it to help them write a summary.
As a result, I have created this poster to remind them what information must be included in their summary.
Please note that this poster is not a substitute for instruction, but rather a visual aid to remind students what information to include in their summary. Feel free to place this poster around your classroom once you've taught SWBST or print a few posters to a page so that your students can glue a copy down in their notebooks.
I hope your students are able to benefit from this poster as much as mine have.
