Description
Use this free syllable level articulation activity worksheet with any speech sound on your caseload!
Once a child gets his/her articulation sound in isolation, speech pathologists usually move to the word level. When following the traditional articulation therapy approach, the SLP needs to have the child practice his/her articulation productions in syllables.
This allows the student to drill the correct sound productions without a contextualized context, so that the student can focus on the motor patterns. These ⭐FREE Articulation Syllable Practice Sheets⭐ will help the busy SLP plan therapy quickly and visually help the student with correctly producing his/her target sound.
These syllable sheets are ❤️no prep! You can use them with a ❤️post-in note, ❤️a page protector and dry erase marker or incorporate ❤️visual sound cue cards with the syllable sheet.
Once the child has mastered his/her sound in VC and CV syllables (Stage 2) of the Traditional Therapy Approach, the SLP can move onto working with the student's sound in words.
What's Included in the Articulation Syllable Sound Practice Sheets:

How To Set Up Therapy and Use This Resource
The best way to determine where to begin in therapy is to get baseline testing about where the child is with correctly producing the sound. The SLP can determine if the child is able to discriminate a correct versus incorrect sound production. Then, the SLP can assess if the child is stimulable
for correctly producing the sound in isolation, syllables, words, etc.

For example, if a child can correctly produce the /s/ in isolation, you would want to start therapy at the syllable level. By working on the /s/ at the syllable level, it allows the child to focus on the motor patterns of correctly producing the sound. As the child achieves mastery at the syllable stage, the SLP would move to the next stage of words in the initial positions.
This resource is designed for the speech-language pathologist to use with children that are at stage two using CV and VC syllable combinations with the target sound. Practicing the target sound at the syllable level is a very important stage because it allows the child to focus on the motor movements of the sound production. By not using real words, it takes out the contextual component of the sound, so child can work on getting the correct phonetic placement and manner.
Tips For Helping Your Students With Self Awareness Of Their Sound Productions
Have the child rate his/her productions with the visual supports. You can record your student producing his/her productions and then have the student listen to the recording. The student can say or write down the words that he/she produced correctly or incorrectly.
Make sure your positive and negative feedback is clear and specific. For example, you can say, “That was a perfect L.” or “Oops, our tongue wasn’t in the right position, so I didn’t hear an L sound.”
Have your students visually see their performance at the end of the session by graphing how well they did or explain which words they produced correctly. For some free articulation production
