Basic level - Example: Is this a turkey? Is this food? Is this a boy? Is this a table?

Directions:
Print cards, mix up, and use with students!
For added durability, print on card stock and laminate.

Therapy ideas:

Increase MLU: Expand the student’s response by putting their answer in to a
sentence.
Ex: “Yes, that is a turkey.” or “No, that’s not a pumpkin. It’s a turkey.
Turkeys are animals. They say, ‘gobble gobble.’”

Ask “Wh” Questions: Try pairing a “wh” question with each card.
Ex: “What is pie?” “What does a ship do?” “Where do you put a hat?”
“When do you
eat dinner?” “Why do you wear a hat?” “How many people do you see?”

Build Vocabulary: Use visuals to discuss Thanksgiving and associated
vocabulary.
Ex: “Yes, that is a boy! He is a pilgrim. Pilgrims came to our country many
many years ago. They had to travel across the ocean so they came over on
a ship.”

Draw & Write: Have students draw a picture using the visuals and write a sentence about the picture.

Make it Fun!: Have students use a foamie, a clip, playdough, or anything else to mark answers.
