This open-ended vocabulary tool is to be used with any vocabulary word in order to help students visualize vocabulary words, and make connections to prior knowledge and other known words. Use this tool consistently with students throughout the school year, and making these visualizations, associations, and connections will become a habit.
This tool can be used in the speech therapy room or the general education classroom; however, it was made with inclusion and push-in therapy in mind.
I’ve provided this graphic organizer in two formats:
Page 5: Vocabulary Booklet – print each page, cut on the dotted line, and attach the pages together with a staple or ring. If you have multiple vocabulary words to include in one booklet, use different colored paper on the same ring. This way, students can easily differentiate between different vocabulary words.
Page 6: Print-and-Go vocabulary graphic organizer.
Use whichever format works best for you and your students!
