This speech-language unit has been designed for use with the book, "George Crum and the Saratoga Chip" by Gaylia Taylor. This book offers a lot of diversity, and can be used to address: multiculturalism, dreams and determination, as well as, overall speech and language tasks. The interest level reported for this book was for grades 1-5; however, middle and high school students have been very receptive to this picture book because it addresses the invention of one of America's favorite snacks - potato chips.
This speech-language includes activities to address the following skills:
*comprehension questions (lower elementary) + answer key
*comprehension questions (upper elementary) + answer key
*articulation for /k, g/, /l/, /r/, /s/, /s blends/
*irregular past tense verbs
*2- and 3-syllable word practice
*1- and 2- step directions
