Description
Time for a brain break! We all know that teaching is serious business, but teachers do not have to be serious to be effective. So, during that back-to-school planning week, break the ice and crack a smile
“Find Someone Who” is a get-to-know game with a kinematic component. Let people partner to maximize their participation, and take a light-hearted look and laugh at why summers seem to go so fast, how to fix a copier jam, and what is point of doing an icebreaker activity in the first place.
This activity is in Microsoft Word .doc form so that Ts can customize the discussion to fit the needs of Ss.
Give Ss a few minutes to brainstorm as much as they can. At the Ts signal, Ss use a pencil and walk around the room to find someone to quiz with. They give one answer to get one answer from each other, with back and forth speaking in pairs, alternating generating oral responses. After a given amount of time, Ts stops activity and debriefs students with “Takeoff/Touchdown” formative assessment.
