NOTE: This Freebie is a preview file of my product "Hands-on Reading & Spelling Materials for Phonics Interventions by Syllable Type," which includes hands-on materials for ALL syllable types. If interested, you can access that full product here.

This FREE product contains ready-to-use, phonics-based materials suitable for interventions or small-group instruction, if desired! You may use these materials as a primary resource for phonics interventions, or you may use them as supplemental materials along with your current phonics program. The phonics rules represented for each syllable type and skill are based on the Orton Gillingham approach for phonics instruction.

Within this product, you will find the following items to support your instruction with CVC words (closed syllables):
* A visual reference poster to support your instruction and foster student memory with mnemonic devices.
* Reading application exercises at the word level with touch-points for decoding
* Reading application exercises at the word level without touch-points to foster independence.
* A decodable reading sample passage to promote fluency. This reading exercise provides students with opportunities to interact with the text through word identification and a brief writing task as well!
* Read-and-spell practice pages that provide students with an immediate opportunity to apply phonics skills in spelling, while scaffolding with visual support for phonemes and a self-assessment option.

The following skills are included within this product:
1. Short Vowels in CVC Words
