BACK TO SCHOOL FREEBIE
This fun, rhyming story is a great way to build school vocabulary and teach the functions of school items. For a more dramatic reading, find an empty backpack and collect the appropriate school supplies. Feel free to add ones not included in the story. As you read the story, have students select the correct item from a display and demonstrate how to use it. Then place the item in the backpack. I included a “schedule” as a supply since I am a long time special ed teacher. If your students do not use schedules, simply skip this page or leave it out of any printed books you make.
You can also sing this story to the tune of “Polly Wolly Doodle”.
Four activity pages are also included. Color and black/white versions of the story are included. 39 pages
