Get your students moving as they practice counting (up to 20)!
My preschool students LOVE counting when they can get up and move. This spinner is a great learning activity for indoor recess or to get out the wiggles!
*The Math in Action spinner can be used in whole group, small group/centers, or individual learning.
Ideas for Play:
*Whole Group/One-On-One: Display the spinner on the board or somewhere the student(s) can watch the arrow spin. The teacher spins, and the whole class (or individual) completes the counting activity. The teacher should lead the counting and encourage the student(s) to count together with him/her.
*Small Group/Centers: Students take turns spinning, and they individually complete the counting activity or complete the activities with a teacher as a facilitator (pick a friend for high fives and shaking hands). It would be a good idea to practice as a class together before assigning students to this center.
*Health Lesson on Heart Rate: Have students stay at rest for a few minutes and feel their pulse. Then, spin the action spinner and complete several of the activities. Have the students check their pulses again. Note how the heart rate increases with activity. Explain how exercise benefits your health.
