This simple data sheet can be used to track up to 14 separate communication goals using a simple 4 number rating system to capture two key aspects: (1) the amount of support provided, and (2) the child's performance during the session. I developed this rubric system to simplify my data collection and allow me to include subjective judgements and convert that into objective data. As I work with very young children, collecting trial-by-trial data has been challenging while also balancing genuine interaction and dynamic and responsive support. With this data sheet, you can reflect on an activity or lesson at the end and still capture key information about how much prompting was provided and what the child could do with that support. It allows you to review progress at-a-glance and shows you where to scale back (or increase) support/prompting to meet the child at their level.
