Students will practice and apply similes and hyperboles found in the chapter book, Polly Diamond and the Magic Book, by Alice Kuipers. Answer Key included.
→ The first activity asks students to sort simile and hyperbole excerpts from the text, and glue them into the appropriate columns.
→ The second activity asks students to choose one simile and one hyperbole from the first activity, explain them and illustrate the meanings.
This Common Core-aligned product could be used by any student who needs practice with figurative language. Students do not have to know the book to complete the activities.
If you are using this FREE product in conjunction with the book, I suggest waiting until students have finished the book so there aren’t any spoilers!
