My students love to eat, and I love to feed them; however, I have to make it educationally relevant. Included in this packet are forms that facilitate students’ ability to compare and contrast 3 different flavors of turkey. The first set of forms lists specific flavors of turkey that I use. There is one form for lower grades, and one for upper grades. The second set of forms is customizable should you use different flavors from me; however, there are forms for both lower and upper grades in this set as well. As an FYI, I purchased turkey slices from the deli, cut them into strips, rolled them up and pierced them with a toothpick. I kept the different flavors on 3 different trays with placards beside each tray. I allowed the students to taste one at a time and rate it before going on to another flavor to prevent confusion. This also helped me avoid giving seconds and risking running out before the end of the day. Disclaimer: Please check with parents about allergies and/or diet restrictions before allowing students to participate in taste test activities.
There are forms for lower and upper elementary, This activity is common core aligned for grades K-3; however, it can be used with all grade levels to compliment other holiday or seasonal activities
