Students show the answer to the problem using multiple strategies such as a ten-frame, drawing a picture and using a number line, highlighting math vocabulary words (i.e., in all, altogether, take away, left) and writing the answer as an equation. These activities will allow students to see the problem in more than one way and help develop their understanding of adding and subtracting better.
This is great from morning work, warm-up, exit ticket, homework, math center work or a follow-up activity after a lesson or for extra practice. You can also use these printables to model how to use a specific strategy.
