This IPA activity or assessment focuses on using French to plan a party as the hook. A pair of students will take turns naming and describing a family member they could invite to the party, writing down both their descriptions and their partner's descriptions. The partners then have to narrow the 16 family members to 8 between them, negotiating and exchanging in a true interpersonal manner. Vocabulary needed to discuss the invitation of people is included at the top of the page, but students still need to prove that they can negotiate meaning using family members, relationships, and descriptions.
You can use this IC IPA as an assessment or as an activity that can be repeated with different partners each time for extended practice of interpersonal skills.
