FRENCH CONJUGATION PLUPERFECT TENSE GRAMMAR PRACTICE - FRENCH HIGH-FREQUENCY VERBS PLUPERFECT PLUS-QUE-PARFAIT TENSE WORKBOOK. There are 25 high-frequency French regular and irregular verbs in the workbook. These kinds of 'quick recall conjugations' are really popular with my students. and they like to have frequent and regular opportunities to refresh and revise their conjugation skills. The pluperfect tense is fairly straightforward conceptually, and students are able to identify, predict and produce the more practice with, and exposure to, them that they have.
The workbook has 150 conjugations in total, across three differentiated conjugation challenges. I always give my students an answer key with this kind of workbook. It enables them to learn independently, and to self and peer assess. The answer key obviously also gives students an additional opportunity to practice their conjugation.
I've used these quick conjugations for a long time, and in a lot of different ways - for example they're great for general practice in the introduction phrase, and students often select them independently when we have our regular 15-minute free-choice slots. They're a great refresher after vacation, and ideal for sub lessons.
I've included 2 alphabetical FRENCH-ENGLISH and ENGLISH-FRENCH verb lists, which is useful both short and longer-term as a reference resource. There are 50 conjugations for each of the three differentiated challenges:
CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in FRENCH across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding ENGLISH verb conjugation.
CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in FRENCH, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in FRENCH.
CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding FRENCH verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an ENGLISH prompt.
The NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template encourages students to reflect on their progress, and I've found it a good idea to revisit it regularly. The answer key is in a booklet format too, and has 6 pages. Have a look at this sampler which is free to download - you'll be able to see if the format and activity will work well for your students:
