- French Revolution 58 Slide PPT ( 2 different versions)
- Tennis Court Oath Video
- French Revolution Writing Assignment
- Declaration of Rights of Man Compare and Contrast
- French Revolution Drama
- French Revolution Story Book Project

1. CHAPTER PREVIEW: I do these with every chapter to allow the students to at least see what we are going to be studying before the unit begins. I have included 2 different versions of the Chapter Preview sheet. The chapter preview sheets take about 20 minutes to do in class.

-2. STORMING THE BASTILLE ACTIVITY- I typically start the French Revolution off with a short concept attainment on Revolution and Constitution. I also go over the different estates and how they fit into the kingdom of the time.

After my short presentation I read them the story of the storming of the Bastille with all the students heads down and lights out.

I HAVE INCLUDED 2 PDF VERSIONS OF THIS! THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME THING BUT ONE IS A LITTLE LONGER THAN THE OTHER.

STORMING THE BASTILLE

-3. FRENCH REVOLUTION 58 SLIDE POWERPOINT- I have broken the French Revolution into 4 stages to make it easy for students to remember what is happening. The stages are the Moderate, Reign of Terror, Reactionary and Napoleonic Stage. This presentation will cover everything in the Revolution and can be done individually or as a class.

- BONUS. TENNIS COURT VIDEO -This is just a cool video of Roger Federer and Andre Agassi playing tennis in Dubai. It really has nothing to do with the French Revolution other than it is just fun. It may help the students remember the Tennis Court Oath, but that is about it.

-4. VALUES LINE CONSERVATIVES VS. LIBERALS-This is a Values line lesson that I love love! It takes the students through the difference between a conservative and liberal and really shows them where they stand on some current real issues.

-5. FRENCH REVOLUTION WRITING ASSIGNMENT-

This is a great little writing assignment that reinforces everything that was gone over in the French Revolution PPT. This is a 4 paragraph essay that gives the students some freedom but also keeps them very much focused on what they are supposed to be focused on.

I would recommend using my FREE paragraph sheet download in addition to this assignment. I like to have students fill out at least 2 of these and then the other 2 paragraphs are on their own. ( I have included this in the download to save time)

-6. DECLARATION OF RIGHTS OF MAN COMPARE/CONTRAST- This is a lesson I did with my students in groups of 2 after I had finished explaining the Moderate Stage of the French Revolution. I had the students look at the documents and break down the differences in the documents. After they finished each person in the class had to compare or contrast the 2 documents in a paragraph. I have attached my paragraph sheet as a bonus for buying this lesson. I have included the key and the documents in this lesson. It worked out for a one day lesson and I gave the students 2 days to write the paragraph.

-7. FRENCH REVOLUTION PROJECTS I have included 3 projects to do with the French Revolution. A French Revolution Drama, an additional French Revolution Writing assignment, and a French Revolution story book.

-8. CRASH COURSE VIDEO GUIDE: This is a 6 page guide that allows the teacher to hold the students accountable for what they are watching.

LINK TO CRASH COURSE

5. Quiz for students / with answers: There is a 7 question quiz with answers from the episode. It can be taken in class or taken home. I think in class would be better.

6. Blank Template for student created quiz: I decided to add this to every Crash Course guide as it works really well with students.

-BONUS: History Channel Mankind Story of US Guide

This 10th episode is good for either junior high or high school as it deals with REVOLUTIONS, Industrial Revolution, Factories, Opium War, Civil. I think this episode would work well with either Jr. High or High school.

Mankind embarks on a new age of exploration, and tames the wilderness. In North America, Siberia and Australia, ancient traditions are swept away in the name of commerce and science. Within a hundred years, the irrational fear that produced a witch trial in Salem gives way to a very rational cry for freedom. American revolutionaries confront a mighty empire. The battle for the modern world begins. Two great revolutions entwine. The American Revolution inspires dreams of political and personal liberty. The Industrial Revolution replaces muscle power with machines, freeing Mankind from nature's limits. But our oldest foe–disease–thrives in industrial cities. With the American Civil War, the two revolutions collide. The world's first industrial war, it is a battle to define "freedom."

What you will get in this bundle: A general concept attainment lesson from the movie Iron Man, Africa teaching with PowerPoint, 4 video clips, China and Japan teaching, India teaching, a Charles Darwin reading, an Imperialism dilemma lesson, a worksheet of all important terms ( no key with this one sorry) and a copy of the White Man's Burden and lastly a copy of the Ghost in the Darkness movie sheet I show in class.

- 1. CHAPTER PREVIEW: I do these with every chapter to allow the students to at least see what we are going to be studying before the unit begins. I have included 2 different versions of the Chapter Preview sheet. The chapter preview sheets take about 20 minutes to do in class.

- 2. AFRICA PPT is a great way to introduce students to the concept of Imperialism. I give them the definition and then have them watch a short clip of Iron Man pointing out what is and what is not imperialism in the movie clip. The presentation is an introduction in the general sense to who was involved, what were they after and how it was going. The PPT is 14 slides and can be completed in one period.

- 3. VIDEOS I have included some other short video clips that would work really well on Day 1 or any other day you need a 5 minute summary of what is being studied.

- 4. CHINA AND JAPAN PPT is a short 13 slides and is more of a comparison and contrast of how Japan and China dealt with Imperialism in the 1800's. I do not have any video for this one as it is quick and to the point.

- 5. INDIA PPT is a 12 slide account of what was going on in India in the 1800's. I have included a clip of Indiana Jones to show the differences between the West and India. The students love it as it really shows how weaponry is king from this time period forward.

- 6. GHOST IN THE DARKNESS: I really enjoy showing this movie in class as the students are just riveted by what goes on in Africa at the time. It shows the struggles of Imperialism and the difficulties of working with other groups of people from all over the world.

The movie is not a free download as it cost 2.99 on Amazon to rent and 9.99 to own.

- 7. WORKSHEET This is a one day Imperialism worksheet that I do not have the key for. I am not sure where it is as I have looked everywhere.

- 8. CHARLES DARWIN READING: This is a short 10-15 minute reading on Charles Darwin and his contribution to the time period. It can be done as a closed reading highlighting things that are important or as a stand alone in class reading.

- 9. THE WHITE MANS BURDEN- This is a classic and disturbing view on how the White man, at the time, viewed other races and how they fit together into society. It is kinda long but I feel it is good for the students to read and understand the mindset at the time.

- 10. MANKIND STORY OF ALL OF US

Here is what is included:
- A question sheet in WORD format that will keep the students following along.
- Answers to the question sheet
- A set of notes that can be referenced for a discussion following the video.
-BONUS: History Channel Mankind Story of US Guide

This 11th episode is good for either junior high or high school as it deals with SPEED, Civil War, Japan, Titanic, Goodyear, and WWI. I think this episode would work well with either Jr. High or High school.

Mankind mobilizes toward modernity. In places like Japan, ancient traditions merge with newfound
technologies. Some nations emerge as superpowers, amassing military might. From steamships such
as the Titanic to skyscrapers like the Empire State Building, humans create infrastructure and vast
communications networks. But progress has its dark side. The demand for rubber devastates Africa;
warfare and poverty continue to threaten human survival and longevity.

4. READING AND WRITING BUNDLE

Here is what is included:

- Bibliography PPT
- DBQ resources
- Cloze Reading sheet
- How to outline
- Mission statement
- Chapter Preview
- Guest Speaker Questions
- MLA/ MEMO
- Read Around sheet
- Paragraph Sheet
- How to write a book review

READING AND WRITING BUNDLE

These are all the writing and reading activities that I use on a weekly basis. You will get a 11 activities in total as a BUNDLE.

1. Bibliography PPT: This will allow the user to walk the students through a short bibliography PPT.

2. DBQ stuff: I have included everything you need to know about writing a DBQ with the PPT/Keynote that goes along with it. This will have the 11 steps to writing a DBQ paragraph and the reflection sheet following the writing of the DBQ to get feedback from the students. I have also included a DBQ reading sheet and paragraph writing sheet that is really useful as it will tell you what to write and when to write it. This is probably the most useful thing I use when writing DBQ's.

3. Cloze Reading sheet: This will give the students some additional direction while reading in class. It is one page and is a really handy tool.

4. How to Outline: I believe this skill is the one thing that helped get me through college. I feel it is necessary to know how to organize large amounts of information.

5. Mission Statement: How to write your own personal mission statement for your life. This is cool as it starts with a word bank and goes down in 5 easy steps.

6. Chapter Preview: This is a great way to have the students preview the chapter prior to actually studying it. I do this in class the day after the test or on the day of the test for HW.

7. Guest Speaker Questions: This is a set of guest speaker questions that is great to have available for when guest speakers come in. I always keep it handy in case things start to get a little stale.

8. MLA/Memo: This teaches how to write a memo or MLA format. Both formats are necessary for life and I love to give the students the tools to be successful.

9. Read Around Sheet: The read around sheet is a way for students to get in groups of 2 or 3 and read each others papers. It does not matter if it is a DBQ or a paragraph. Feedback is everything and with 230 students it gets tough.

10. Paragraph Sheet: Probably my favorite resource that I have used over the years. I love this paragraph sheet because it just makes sense. I love teaching things that make sense to me and this just makes sense. Enjoy!

11. How to write a book review: This allows students to review the books they are reading mostly for EC. The review has the students go through 6 steps to make sure that they can prove that they have read the book.
