About these lessons
The Fruit of the Spirit is a popular topic for children's Sunday school lessons. Go
online, and you'll find a lot of lessons and crafts with oranges and bananas
associated with the Fruit of the Spirit. But what does the word "fruit" really mean?
Fruitfulness is a biblical concept. Jesus used the imagery of good trees producing
good fruit and bad trees producing bad fruit in one of his parables (Luke 6:43). The
idea behind this imagery is not so much that "love" is a delicious fruit like an apple,
but that the Spirit plants seeds in our hearts and what grows is good fruit. The
Spirit makes us fruitful. Not only does the Spirit makes us fruitful, but ONLY the
Spirit has the power to make us truly loving, truly peaceful, and so forth. God bless
your teaching; may it be fruitful!

A NOTE ABOUT CHRISTMAS LESSONS!
It should be very obvious as you scan over the lessons in this volume that Christmas
is on our minds! If you start the FRUIT series in August or September, you should be
able to line things up pretty well with the Christmas season. ALSO, I have included a
BONUS lesson is this volume. The bonus lesson would work well on the Sunday closest
to New Year’s Day.
