Aligning with the new 2013 Ontario curriculum, this mini-unit package can act as a cultural mini-unit on its own, or can be a way to start a larger unit focusing on countries around the world and the intercultural understanding aspect of the curriculum. Included are the following:
- 3 part lesson plan
- Student booklet
- Cultural station posters (can be laminated and given to students)
There are 4 cultural stations - each targets a different strand and a different task to do. They range from: listing holidays celebrated in other countries (outside of Canada), writing a paragraph with sentence starters, comparing Creole to French from France, as well as listing Francophone countries from all over the world. Specific teaching instructions can be found in the lesson plan, along with modifications and how you can assess this mini-unit.
PLEASE NOTE: Access to Youtube is required for students to complete the tasks. This can be done in groups, or focus on one cultural station/task a day.
