This is a super fun third grade project for students to reinforce writing fractions, equivalent fraction, and fraction word problems. This helps students to make real world connections with fractions. I did this project as an optional homework assignment and my students loved it and learned a lot. Even parents were excited about this project. Even though I used it as an optional homework assignment, you can do it for homework, as a center, as a class lesson, etc..
In this project, students create their own pizzas, put on toppings, and create a key about their pizza including the fractions of toppings on the pizzas, equivalent fractions, and a few fraction word problems about their pizza.
This purchase includes the student directions on how to complete the project, three different parent letters (all three have different options for you) and two different grading rubrics, so you can pick the ones that fits your needs. There are two pages of examples and explanation/helpful hints to help you get started, too. There’s even an extra chart I made for a fraction center, extra practice at home, etc. that is open-ended for all levels where they can draw a fraction and then write it in words and numbers. It went right along with the concepts, so I threw it in here for you.
