This unit is for a fourth grade classroom. Fables were chosen because it was a unit in a fourth grade Basal book. I decided that this unit would be more fun because a wide variety of activities that can meet all the diverse needs of our learners. This Unit will still meet all the standards and objectives from the Basal, but it is being taught in a different way. One fable was chosen to focus on throughout the unit so that the students are able to compare different morals throughout one fable. This is a broad concept, so this unit can be adapted to fit with any fable. The unit begins with a basic introduction to fables so that the students who do not have background knowledge on fables are still able to contribute later on in the unit. This unit integrates the subject areas of math, visual arts, science, and technology. With the last activity, the lesson points out the importance of teaching morals to students because they will use this throughout their lives as they live in the 21st century.
