This unit covers 11 fables. What does it include?
-An introduction to fables, why they were written, and what do all fables have to include.
-Nine of the fables have been printed for your convenience and include the moral.
-The other two fables are YouTube videos but do include the moral and questions.
-Each fable has one or two short answer questions that include using the moral to write about a personal connection they have with the fable, what is it trying to teach you, and finding evidence within the fable.
-I have included questions about vocabulary words. They have to use context clues to find the meaning of the vocabulary words from the fable. I have included strategies similar to the ones they use when reading nonfiction texts. A vocabulary answer key is included also.
Ex. toil, or work; swift (fast); or reading ahead to find the definition.
-It includes a Student Take Home Study Sheet with the fables, vocabulary questions, and vocabulary answers.
-It includes my lesson plans that I use for this unit. I do it in a week during shared reading and writer's workshop.
Let me know if you have any questions.
