This is one of many sets of Aesop Fable products I have listed. If you want to collect them all buy them while they are still 2 for $1. Offered here: "The Town Mouse and the Farm Mouse" and "The Fox and the Grapes." The first is about a country mouse who visits his cousin in the city. In the end he discovers there's no place like home where he can eat his meals in peace on the farm even though they aren't fancy meals. The second fable is about a fox who can not reach a bunch of grapes. Despite trying as hard as he can, he finally gives up trying, telling himself he didn’t really want them anyway because they were sour.
Each fable has 8 reading comprehension questions. To answer the questions students can rely on a simple reading strategy that has them look back up to the stories and use the context to find the answers. Using this strategy increases student retention. The last question of each fable asks them to pick the lesson or moral, hence they are making inferences, too. The stories and the drawings lend themselves to thoughtful discussions. Answer keys included.
